4 Tips To Keep The Spark In Your Relationship When You Have Kids

Are you wanting to reignite the spark in your relationship?

When you have a family it can be tough to spend time with your other half. So much of your time is spent cleaning, doing laundry, and looking after the little ones that you can forget what it is like to have some quality time together.

This is why it is more important than ever to keep the spark alive.

You don’t have to do anything drastic, even simple things such as doing chores can show your partner how much you appreciate them.

We always want it to work, sometimes things go wrong, and if they do it is best to be prepared.

1. It’s the little things that count

Sometimes the little things you do daily mean just as much as the larger grand gestures.

Things like sending a text to say “I love you” or that you are thinking of them or throwing a date night at home.

Making them a tea in the morning before they go to work, or in the evening when they get back, or spontaneously making them a special breakfast on the weekend.

It doesn’t have to cost a lot, it’s just the fact you have put some thought and effort into it that will make the difference.

Just make sure you do these things on a regular occurrence, not just as a one-off.

2. Make An Effort Around The House

After you and your partner have been in a relationship for a long time, you can both get complacent and stop doing the mundane tasks that need to be done around the house.

These can start to bug one another and cause arguments, things like not doing the dishes, cleaning up after yourself, or not doing the hoovering.

Instead of continuing along this path, try and make an effort around the house and compromise on jobs you both don’t like doing.

Don’t underestimate how much these could be appreciated by your other half.

3. Spontaneous Gestures

Spontaneous gestures are a great way to keep the spark in your relationship and show your partner you are thinking of them.

Why not buy your partner some flowers as a surprise, or book a restaurant and go out for dinner.

It doesn’t have to be expensive, it’s the thought that counts and the fact you have made an effort. Why not plan to do something once a month that you know will put a smile on your partner’s face.

Why not buy some crafts and make something personal that you know is special to them.

4. Spend Less Time On Your Phone Around Them

Sounds silly but you may not realize just how many hours a day you spend glued to the screen of your phone instead of engaging with your partner.

With smartphones very much prevalent in our lives, it can be hard to switch off and not use them when you are at home.

Instead, try and set a rule where you have an hour a day together not touching your phone, and spend some quality time together. Ask each other how your days have been or do something active together like cooking or baking. It doesn’t matter what you are doing, just that you are doing it together as a couple.
